Bus campers;

Motorhomes have been extremely popular for quite some time now, but especially in the last few years the demand for camper vans has been increasing, as the prices of (normal) camper vans have risen enormously and the supply has shrunk.

You want to build a motor home, where do you start?

We will help you get started.

What will you do yourself and what will you outsource?

-Building your own home is a lot of fun and makes the car you are going to create those special moments with feel like your very own. Don't take it lightly though, you are building a small house as it were, including many challenges such as insulation, electrics, interior, layout and much more. If you do this well, the car will retain its value, so the emphasis here is clearly on furnishing the car properly and with the right materials.

Are you less handy yourself but would still like to furnish the vehicle completely according to your own wishes? Then you will find many camper builders in the country, many of them are professionals in interior design and have a good eye for detail. Together with them you will draw up the plan which furnishing and taste will suit you best. After the initial discussions, there is often some guidance on a model of commercial vehicle from the smallest van to a large truck as a basis.

What to look out for when buying;

Budget is important, but don't forget that a decent installation won't be cheap either. If you install this decent interior in an old car with a high odometer reading, the residual value will quickly diminish and the future trade-in or sale will often be more difficult (and yes, once you get the hang of it, a new project will quickly be considered). More importantly, your feeling about the reliability of the car should remain high. After all, these are the days when you should be enjoying well-deserved outings and not spending time at the local garage fixing faults.

What size do you need?

The real die-hards can already make do with a Ford Transit Connect (yes seriously), here you have just enough room to lie down after the necessary modifications and you can pull out a kitchen unit from under your sleeping facilities to cook on the outside of the car.

Many people find this too small and of course when more than 2 beds are needed this is not a possibility. The next step is the well known Volkswagens California Mercedes Marco Polo and Ford Transit Nugget format, spacious for 2 persons, but with a raised roof with sleeping possibility also possible to camp with 4 persons in the car. The latter we recommend to test in advance with a rental car. When everyone is installed for the night, it is cosy but the daily conversion from day to night provision and vice versa can be experienced as quite awkward.

Boxer/ Jumper/ Ducato, these are models that have been popular with the motor home public since their introduction, they have width! These are the only models in which you can sleep in the width (without any modifications to the bodywork), up to 1.96 m! This makes the interior design possibilities much easier and a table and bench behind the front seats can be easily realised.

When you take a look at the longer versions of the Ducato/ Boxer/ Jumper/ Master/ Movano range, you often see that these are front-wheel drive vehicles, which is nice because you keep a low step in, but the turning circle (think of those nice picturesque places) is a lot larger.

Among the larger models, you could also look at the Transit/ Crafter (2006-2018) / Sprinter models. These cars are built more for heavy duty work and have a different chassis with rear-wheel drive (test drive is experience).

What can we do for you?

We like to go along with the enthusiasm of the customer and try to advise as good as possible, but just viewing, getting in and driving models is just what you need to get a good picture. Normally, with our stock of +/- 400 cars, we have quite a few variants in stock.

We can help until the moment of building in areas such as; Technical preparation of the car, we extend the warranty until after the car has been converted. We can already dress up the car with possible protective side/ push bars, nice rims, parking camera's, cruise control, mounting a luxury seat instead of the passenger seat and also mounting the windows is often done at the time of purchase.

BPM, how does it work?

A common mistake is that people do not realise that BPM has to be paid, many garages also use this as an excuse and say that this is not the case as long as the company car is older than 5 years. WRONG! As a private person, you do not have to pay BPM when you buy a company car that has reached the age of 60 months. However, when you offer the car at the RDW, the license plate will be changed from grey to yellow and the residual BPM will also apply. Curious about the amount of BPM? We can check it for you per vehicle.

When can you buy BPM free? There is one exception that many people overlook, because we advertise passenger buses already including residual BPM or even BPM free (please note that many advertisements of passenger buses at our competitors are net exports, so the BPM is still added).

An additional advantage of these passenger buses is that they already have windows all around, they are neatly finished on the side walls, they have headliner and already approved seats, a category that is often overlooked.
